The Japanese
Association of Preventive Medicine for Adult Diseases (JAPA) is non-profit
association of over 6,600 independent doctors and is the biggest and most
respected of its kind in Japan. The
association reviews and endorses a variety of products and technologies and is
known for its with stringent guidelines for certification. More than 20,000 products are sent to them
annually for approval but only 20 are recommended as they only issue such
endorsements for only one product (or product line) to the very best in any
given category or industry. The criteria
for approvals include:
- All ingredients must be pure and
natural without fillers or additives
- There must be zero side effects towards
the human body
- Clinical test reports to confirm that
the product actually helps the prevention of chronic diseases and cancer
- Company not in debt, strong financial
standing, without disputes with anyone and guarantees the continued
quality of the products and the security of the production process
- Approval for the quality supply of raw materials
Super Lutein is a JAPA-certified
product, with numerous other certifications around the world. In Malaysia,
Super Lutein has Halal certification and is registered with KKM (Ministry of
Health) and approved as an over the counter product. Its formulation also has
patents in several major countries.
Super Lutein is
essentially the extract of vegetable and fruit encapsulated in a sealed soft
gel capsule. It is a well-balanced
mixture of lutein, zeaxanthin, crocetin, α-carotene, β-carotene, lycopene,
anthocyanin, DHA and Vitamin E. The
first seven ingredients are all phytochemicals: antioxidants that actively work
to neutralize free radicals created through oxidation triggered by extrinsic
and intrinsic factors on the body such as UV rays, blue light, air pollution
and physiological stress. DHA is an
omega-3-fatty acid derived from fish oil, and Vitamin E is an antioxidant found
naturally in various foods.
It was initially
conceived as a designer supplement for eyes.
Lutein by itself is found in the retina; while both lutein and
zeaxanthin are the predominant antioxidant pigments in the macula. Together they block UV rays and blue light
from reaching underlying structures in the retina, thereby reducing the risk of
light-induced oxidative damage that can lead to macular degeneration.
Lutein and
zeaxanthin also have antioxidant properties, and together with other
carotenoids in Super Lutein, it is also excellent for overall health to boost
immunity. If the tip of the soft gel cap
is snipped off with a scissors, the high potency liquid (fruits &
vegetables extract) within appears black on first sight but if spread on a
white tissue or napkin, will exhibit the colours of the rainbow, essentially
the colourful fruits and vegetables that we all need in our daily diet. But how many of us are diligent enough to eat
all colours of the rainbow and how much can we really eat? Three capsules of Super Lutein daily is
equivalent to four servings of fruits and five servings of vegetables in six
coloured variety.
Ingested, these
nutrients work alone and synergistically in combinations to help to maintain
eye and skin health, prevent damage to vital organs and protect the body from
illness.
Super Lutein is
especially beneficial for those with eye conditions. Many studies have shown that lutein and
zeaxanthin reduce the risk of chronic eye diseases, including age related macular degeneration (AMD) and cataracts. High levels of blood carotenoids are also
associated with reduced risk of several
types of cancer (e.g. breats, endometrial, urothelial, etc), osteoarthritis and
other health conditions.
