I have been taking things very lightly this pregnancy, as I had assumed that since this is the second time around, we would be more experienced and besides, we already have most of the things we need. However, while going through the checklist I prepared during my first pregnancy, I realized that there are still many things that we need to attend to, even though it’s true that we can recycle many things.
There’s the baby clothes, traditional cloth diapers, mattress sheets, blankets, bouncinet, etc to wash. I’ve just managed to dig these out from the store room but I realized that I can’t wash them just yet – coz I’ve got no place to keep them. That calls for a trip to Ikea to shop for a chest of drawers to keep the baby’s day-to-day stuff. There are also other small items like cloth diaper fasteners, waterproof mattress pads, disposable diapers (still contemplating whether I should go green and opt for the modern cloth diapers, but I’m just to lazy to want to learn the intricacies of cloth diapering), cream for nappy rash, baby nail clipper, wet wipes, cotton, etc.
And then, there’s the decision we have to make on whether to buy two more baby car seats (we currently have one each in hubby’s and my car – and we’ll need one more in each car for the new baby) or to buy booster seats for Yiu Yiu, so the current car seats can be used by the baby. Our only concern is that Yiu Yiu is still too small to fit snugly into the booster seats, but if we buy two more baby car seats, we’ll still need to upgrade Yiu Yiu to a booster seat some time in the future, and we’ll be stuck with four car seats then.
I still have five more weekends to settle all these before the baby is due to arrive, that, of course, assuming she doesn’t decide to make an early appearance. And I had better start packing my hospital bag, just in case.

Mmmmm lucky u went thru ur list now isn't it? Otherwise it will be lots of last minute rush!!!
Oh and u hv yet to find a name for the new baby leh
i suggest a booster seat. better for the long term. cheaper and more comfortable for her, too.
all the best ...
take care n wish u a safe delivery. n u will be able to prepare all the necessary stuff.
Wah! How come your pregnancy sound so fast wan? I thought you are in your 6th month. Mana tau, another more week to go. Aiyah, upgrade to booster seat la. Kids grow up very fast wan. Or you can get a baby carrier.
i'm facing the same problem wif d car seat. at the moment, i'm still using the baby bassinet that i had from rye li's time. but i will need to buy 2 more car seats before haye li turns 1 yr old. rye li is still underweight for the min 15kgs booster seats...but i think i will get 1 booster seat and another car seat that can take up to 45kgs weight.
tk it easy on ur preparations...spread them out in these 3 weekends so it won't be so overwhelming and of course, get ur hosp bag ready first!
tk care!
so fast counting down edi...
I also think that you should get booster seat, more practical :-P
WK - we've got some names la, but each one either doesn't sound quite right in Mandarin or Cantonese.
Mimi/Beckysmum - we are more inclined towards booster seat but she's still underweight for the booster.
LittleLamb - thanks.
Hijackqueen - I think when we see other people being pregnant, it alway seem so fast..haha...we will be using YY's baby carrier for the first couple of months, then maybe later only get the booster seats.
Syn - ditto for YY, she's still underweight for the car seat. And yes, have to get the bag packed soon.
Hi, first time visitor to your blog. All the best in the delivery of the little baby... :) I look forward for more updates. I hope you don't mind I add you to the blogroll..
Hi, just to share with you...I'm also expecting...it's my 2nd child and I'm now in wk38. I had only started preparing my labour bag last week. There are many more things not prepared yet; such as cleaning up the place to put the playpen, fixing the chest of drawers which we just bought for baby clothes (the current cupboard for my elder daughter is already filled up with her stuffs), buying another car seat/booster for my elder daughter, preparing the things/foodstuff(red wine/ginger wine and etc.) for confinement and many more.
I don't know wat to say, cos i think in general, 2nd and subsequent time mum will take lightly of their pregnancy/ delivery due to the fact (or mind set)that they hav had the experience before...but in actual (that is, for me, I'm not sure about others) I've already forgotten alot frm my 1st pregnancy/delivery and need to read up again to refresh my memory. I've only realised this as i was browsing through some websites recently on the topic.
A Mom's Diary, since you still hav few more weeks to go, better get yourself prepared and don't rush at the last minute, cos by then you will hav alot on your mind already.
Cynthia - thanks for dropping by
Jotpl - congratulations! Wishing you a safe birth. Looks like we are equally not prepared for our second baby :-) You're right about forgetting most of the things already, I'm also trying to read up on preparing for labour, breathing etc.
wow time flies.......
Wow...four more weekends ya? The hospital bag will be my priority too because I've been reading about how No. 2 comes earlier than No. 1!
I know I'm gonna be wantan mee when I go back this July to start the nesting LOL
Good luck with the car seat choices :)
Kittycat - I still have yet to pack my bag, MUST do it this weekend liao. Are you coming back? I thought you were considering giving birth in the VIP maternity hospital?
