Kindy outing to KL Bird Park

A few weeks ago, I received a message from Yiu Yiu’s kindy, informing parents that the kindy will be organizing an outing to the KL Bird Park on April 30. I kinda ignored the message as at the back of my mind, I had decided not to let her go, as I was worried about her being in such a big group, being the clumsy toddler that she is. Anyway, I informed hubby and he suggested that I tagged along. I still wasn’t very keen but last week, her class teacher called to confirm whether indeed she won’t be joining. Hubby again persuaded me to join them on the trip, so I sms from Jazzmint, whose daughter, Faythe is in the same class with Yiu Yiu. Jazzmint said she’d be going along, so I changed my mind, since I’ll have company.

Students and parents gathered at the kindy for a short briefing prior to the outing

(L) Yiu Yiu with Faythe; (R): Yiu Yiu with Chloe and Evan (I think)

Lining up prior to the briefing

Listening intently to Teacher Stephanie

Queuing up for the bus, and a shot of Yiu Yiu in the bus

We left in six buses around 9.20am and arrived at the KL Bird Park at about 10am. The class teachers were responsible for guiding their own students (and accompanying parents) into the park

We walked past, or rather, rushed through several aviaries and headed to the amphitheatre where a special bird show had been arranged for the group at 10.30am.

The show was quite entertaining, and the trainers demonstrated the intelligence and high visual acuity of the macaws through several stunts. In one of the stunts, the macaw was even able to solve addition equation of up to 15.

The TJC crowd at the amphitheatre

Yiu Yiu's battery was visibly drained while watching the bird show

After the show, the children visited the hatchery with some newly hatched chicks and ducklings, before being ushered back to the bus for the trip back to the kindy. We left the park at about 11.30am, so you can imagine how rushed the trip was.

Back at the kindy

This is my first ever school outing so I’m really not sure what to expect but personally, I felt as if the whole purpose of the trip was for the bird show, since it was one mad rush to reach the amphitheatre the moment we arrived, and another mad rush to get back to the buses the moment the show ended. I really don’t know if the children enjoyed the trip, but when I asked Yiu Yiu, she gave her thumbs-up. Well, I guess the children DID enjoy the trip.

usually with such short time, they cannot take their own sweet time. At least ur gal enjoyed it. I went there few years back n it is such a huge park.

i agree with u the whole trip was like rushing to see things than enjoying the place itself LOL...both my kids were so tired. I must get those pics from you, I didn't take much pics of Faythe and Vyktore as well cause the teacher kept reminding me don't take pics *sienz*

Kids have different perspective la, to them this is quite exciting coz they got to go out jln jln with their friends.

Well so long as she enjoyed herself, that is most important :)

It does sound like a really rushed trip...

Yiu Yiu's got such cute dimples :)

Over here, the toddlers only go to the park - at least they have sense not to pack them in with the older kindy children who go to the aquarium and other centers...

Mybabybay - Guess the children have different expectations compared to us cynical adults :-)

Jazz - Sure, will pass you a copy but my photography skills very the bad one leh, just snap snap snap only. How come the teacher kept reminding you not to take pics?

WK - Ditto!

Kittycat - YY's kindy combined all the classes together for the trip, from 3yo - 6yo - that's why there were six buses!

My 6 yr old son is in the same kindy too. I tagged along last year when the kindy organized a visit to Beryl Chocolate Factory. This year, I did not join my son as I knew he would be in good hands.

Thanks for dropping by Kelly. It was also a last minute decision to allow YY to go, and for me to tag along. I guess this being her first school trip, I was a little apprehensive.
